Young Life is a worldwide faith-based organization that provides a safe place for teens to participate in fun activities, summer camps and special events throughout the year. Founded more than 40 years ago, the New Canaan branch services the surrounding communities of New Canaan, Wilton, Darien and Norwalk. The two story facility, decorated with photos of Young Life members in action, is spacious and is ideal for parties and group activities.
Toquet Hall Teen Center is a non-profit teen center run by the Town of Westport that operates under the Department of Human Services.
The facility opened in 1998 as a response to the needs of Westport youth for a safe and fun place they could call their own. Its mission is to meet the critical and emerging needs of Westport teens.
Toquet Hall is a supervised, drug and alcohol-free center where high school age youth can initiate and participate in social, cultural, recreational and educational activities. The facility is governed by a partnership of high school students and adults.
The shared values and goals of participants in Toquet Hall include building trust between teens and adults, growing leadership skills and developing respect for oneself and others.
Located in City Hall, Norwalk Youth Services offers counseling for children ages 11 to 18 and their families. Youth Services provides children an opportunity to mature and develop into responsible adults and members of the community.
Counseling services provided through the department are completely confidential and provided at no cost. Youth Services counselors can also advocate for youths by attending school planning and placement meetings or meetings at Juvenile Court.
Also known as the Stamford Corps Community Center, the Salvation Army on Selleck St. offers a unique combination of church and social services for the West side of the city. In addition to offering church services for adults and children, Salvation Army also holds various events and fundraisers throughout Stamford to benefit underpriviledged families. Salvation Army depends on volunteers to assemble food baskets during the holiday season and assist with various youth activities that include field trips and music lessons.
New Canaan Girls Field Hockey, part of the Fairfield County Field Hockey Association, was formed in 2004 to promote field hockey to seventh and eighth grade girls residing in New Canaan. The fundamentals of the game are taught in a competitive, fun and safe environment. Mo Deegan, the coach for New Canaan High School Varsity Field Hockey, has several years of coaching experience in middle, high school and college field hockey.
