The People of St. Edward the Confessor Parish live and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ:

By praying and celebrating the sacraments;

By fostering a community of love among all people;

By serving all, especially the poor, the vulnerable, and the alienated;

By teaching from generation to generation.

The mission of UJA Federation of New York is to care for those in need, strengthen the Jewish people and inspire a passion for Jewish life and learning. We enable Jews to overcome crises, cope with the struggles of everyday life and achieve self-sufficiency. Our caring hand extends to the poor, the elderly, Holocaust survivors, children and adults with disabilities and special needs and the unemployed across the economic spectrum. We provide access to crucial human services to all New Yorkers, whoever they are, and Jews everywhere. We are connecting Jews around the world to one another, building unity and fostering a sense of collective responsibility.

Our goal is to impart the Jewish values that inform everything we do--and to improve access to quality Jewish education. We're reinvigorating the institution that helps shape Jewish life. We're building the foundation for tomorrow's Jewish community today.

Simchat HaLev creates a welcoming and nurturing environment for its congregation and guests. Some of the congregants identify themselves as Reform, Conservative, Renewal, Re-constructionist, Secular, some "just" Jewish and others "not technically" Jewish.

The congregation embraces families with and without children regardless of their constellation and orientation. Women and men are also equal in all aspects of congregational life.

Congregation Simchat HaLev is an intimate congregation that incorporates a house of prayer with extensive learning opportunities. Rabbi Jay and the team of Jewish professionals teach individuals Judaism that is accessible, engaging, spiritually based and God centered.

move us
to embrace the challenge
to be God's presence in the World

St. Bede's is the Episcopal Church for Syosset and the surrounding area.  Our parish cordially welcomes everyone who wishes to enrich their spiritual lives through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

St. Bede's is new, as churches in this part of the country measure age. The Parish was organized in 1953 and moved into its present building on Christmas Eve, 1955.

Our Parish House was opened at the beginning of 1963 with our Rectory added in 1967.

We are a small group, but welcome visitors and newcomers. We have many of the aspects of a country parish and you will find that our people are friendly and hospitable.

If you would like to learn more about our Church or have other questions,
please visit us at one of our services. You may also call our Parish office
at 516-921-0755 and someone will return your call.

You may also contact us via e-mail at [email protected]

We hope you will come and join us in Worship.

St. Bedes also shares space with Somang

Syosset Gospel Church was founded in 1957 by Paul F. Steffens, a 14th generation descendant of the reformer Dr. Martin Luther (1486-1546). Its a nondenominational Christian church. Staying true to Luther's life's theme, 'the just shall live by faith,' Pastor Steffens continued the four century long family heritage of preaching and teaching the Word of God only. From a strictly nondenominational presentation of Scripture truths, the parishioners receive an unbiased diet of spiritual milk and meat.

Joining his father in 1976, Paul K. Steffens has filled the role of Associate Pastor. Together, both father and son endeavor to remain true and without compromise to the teachings of the Holy Bible.
